This picture also appears on p63 of Ventham and Fletcher's Moving the Guns. It is the prototype 2 ton tractor, based on D5E1, the Artillery Observer's Vehicle, but without the high sided body. This prototype took part in the 1930 Wool trials. After performing well 14 vehicles were ordered (the Light Dragon) and delivered in 1931, when they were issued to 20 Battery of the 9th Field Brigade RA to replace their Birch Guns. The Vickers Carden Loyd Tractor Truck was a commercial design which used a 30 cwt lorry body mated to a fully tracked chassis based on the Vickers 2 ton tractor. The British Army purchased three vehicles for trials but it was deemed unsuitable for service use.

Trailer Double Half Track 1931

Trailer 3.7" Howitzer 1930

This tracked trailer was designed by Carden-Loyd and weighed around 7.5 cwt. It was an alternative to a Kegresse tracked trailer . These were intended to carry the 3.7 inch howitzer, a lightly constructed gun primarily designed as a light gun which would be mule transportable for use in mountainous regions. Its construction was not robust enough for motorized towing. In the end the gun carriage was redesigned to make it more suitable for towing. Under tow the barrel of the gun would be elevated. There is a picture of this in Ventham and Fletcher's Moving the Guns, p 47.

The second photograph is the tracked personeel trailer pulled by the Carden Loyd MG Carrier, for example when also towing the tracked 20mm Oerliken anti tank gun.

Utility Tractor 1932 Personnel Carrier

Two identical photographs (apart from the cropping), the second captioned 1934 Belgium Familleureux. The sides seem to hinge and drop down to provide leg rests for the passengers who are carried on the two sides. This vehicle was used by the Dutch Army to tow a 47mm anti tank gun, the crew riding on the tractor.
